Nature's Feminine Strife

$1,500.00

17x22 Acrylic on paper

I often don’t realize what my paintings are about until after they are finished; I must return back and anaylze their meaning. This mountain scene was primarily created with palette knives, tools I don’t often use. The tool’s primitive nature allowed for me to push my self-inflicted boundaries. I enjoyed the process and plan to use them more in future paintings.

As for the end result itself I see an ironic yet apropo conflict of elements. Both water and earth are considered elements of the femimine; introverted, self-contained, with deep inner resourses of power. The water of the stream runs deep through the mountain, it’s unbridaled, angry, and surging with emotions. The surrounding earth stabilizes its rath and consoles the emotion to a seemingly palpable state; just as society expects.
