Descending Order

Although I do not know the science of an avalanche’s physics nor have I experienced an avalanche underfoot, I can only imagine the sounds and vibrations of large masses of falling snow, ice and rock. This arctic glacier looking landscape painting is how I imagine a mountainside might appear right as it all lets loose and begins its descent; perhaps frightening but exciting. How do you see and feel looking at this painting? Do you feel the winds whipping across your face? Does it make you want to put on a warm down-filled parka? Or, does it make you want to hike and explore the beauty of our earth’s frozen tundras? It was as exhilarating to paint as it makes me feel.
